Special Training

The National Center for Healthy Housing periodically offers a Train-the-Trainer Course for people who want to teach the Essentials for Healthy Homes Practitioners training course.  NCHH will arrange for course if there is 15 or more instructors who are interested.  As an alternative, NCHH encourages potential trainers to contact NCHH's Susan Aceti at saceti@nchh.org or 443.539.4159 to discuss their interest.  He generally recommends that potential trainers attend one of the regularly scheduled sessions and then work with him to teach segments of the course.

Boston University is working with local stakeholders to develop two one-day variations of the Essentials for Healthy Homes Practitioners training course.  One of the courses is tailored to the needs of a health department.  It is being piloted for the New Hampshire Department of Health in April 2006.  The other course is a follow-up for participants in the the Essentials for Healthy Homes Practitioners who want to explore with their peers enhanced methods to make healthy homes work in their communities.  That course will be piloted in June 2006.  For more information, contact Pat Hynes at Boston University's School of Public Health at hph@bu.edu or (617) 638-7720.

East Central University is tailoring the Essentials for Healthy Homes Practitioners to more effectively help tribes make their homes healthier.  Pat Bohan will pilot the course in May 2006.  For more information, contact Pat Bohan at pbohan@mailclerk.ecok.edu or (580) 310-5658.
