NCHH is seeking qualified principal instructors who wish to conduct Certified Lead Renovator training under NCHH's EPA-accreditation.  Principal instructors are responsible for the marketing of training, recruitment of students and oversight of the teaching of all course material.

All instructors must sign a written agreement with NCHH. NCHH does not restrict instructors from delivering training for another EPA-accredited training provider.  On a case-by-case basis, NCHH will pursue state accreditation or help the instructor become state accredited.

NCHH charges a fee for these services of $100 per training course held plus $10 per student in the course.  If instructors want it, NCHH also provides selected course materials and charges the instructors its cost plus 5%.

NCHH will need the following from each potential qualified instructor:

  • Copy of certificate documenting at least 8 hours of EPA- or state-accredited lead-specific training.  Note that while it is excellent training, the Alliance for Healthy Homes' 16-hour Train-the-Trainer Course does not qualify. Accredited courses would be:

    • 24-hour Lead Inspector Initial Course

    • 16-hour Lead Risk Assessor Initial Course

    • 16-hour Lead Abatement Worker Initial Course

    • 32-hour Lead Abatement Supervisor Initial Course

    • 8-hour Certified Lead Renovator Course

    • 8-hour Lead Dust Sampling Technician Course

  • Brief explanation of experience teaching workers or adults, including substantial experience leading classroom style trainings,

  • Brief explanation of experience in one or more of the following:

    • Lead or asbestos abatement;

    • Painting, carpentry, renovation, or remodeling;

    • Occupational safety and health; or

    • Industrial Hygiene

  • Resume documenting the experience described above.

Please send the information to NCHH's Training Program Manager, Patrick MacRoy at pmacroy@nchh.org if you are interested in joining.

If you qualify, NCHH will need you to:

  • Sign an agreement with NCHH establishing the roles and responsibilities of NCHH and you.

  • Review the information on this website, including the facility requirements and NCHH's applications to the EPA.

  • Have a teleconference with NCHH's Training Program Manager to walk you through the substantive and administrative aspects of the training. We will work with you to become successful.

Instructors will need to provide Chris Bloom with the course documents by email at cbloom@nchh.org after the class. NCHH will issue all certificates and handle other required notices.

NCHH encourages trainers to get a better understanding of the supplies needed to comply with the rule.  Take the paint retailers free-online training on the rule, lead-safe work practices and the products that their customers will need.  Thanks to the Indiana State Department of Health for funding to make the training possible and the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) for hosting the training.
