Expanding from Lead Poisoning Prevention to Healthy Homes

As state and local agencies expand from categorical lead poisoning prevention programs to more holistic healthy homes approaches, there is a need for models of success and innovation.  They need to make this transition while maintaining their essential work to protect children from lead poisoning.

Flyer for Calls from October 2008 to January 2009.

To facilitate this transition, the National Center for Healthy Housing will host a monthly conference call on the first Monday of each month at 3:00 pm ET. Call 866-939-8416  #914-9657. Use *6 to mute your line.  Use *6 to unmute.

NCHH designed the calls for state and local lead poisoning prevention program staff and community-based organizations who work with them. The calls will:

  • Identify models for successful transitions;

  • Learn about barriers and opportunities to success; and

  • Provide time for peer-to-peer trouble-shooting.

Background:

One week before each call, NCHH will send out an announcement on healthyhomesnet providing the agenda and details on the upcoming call.  NCHH will also post the update as well as presentation materials at www.healthyhomestraining.org/transition/.  Ultimately, we anticipate that the calls will lead to the development of a standardized approach to making the expanding and a core set healthy homes program elements that are critical to the success of a shift.  If you have an update you want to include in the presentation, send NCHH’s Tom Neltner an email at tneltner@nchh.org with your suggestion by the Wednesday before the call.
